Body Rolling with Jessica

Jessica LaFalce RYT and PT Assistant guides us through gentle myofascial release using body rolling balls.

Myofascial release is a therapy that can relax contracted muscles, improving blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles. Fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps most structures within the human body, including muscle. Fascia supports and protects these structures. Osteopathic theory proposes that this soft tissue can become restricted due to psychogenic disease, overuse, trauma, infectious agents, or inactivity, often resulting in pain, muscle tension, and corresponding diminished blood flow.

Self massage through the use of dense yet flexible balls can help relieve a great deal of tension and restore the blood and energy flow in the body.

Jessica received her yoga teacher certificate with 500 hours of training and a certification in body rolling at Healsci Yoga School in Sarasota, FL in 2015. She is a physical therapist assistant with 11 years of experience in the field.

“I chose to pursue my yoga teacher training from a deep desire to help people heal on a holistic level. In the process, I noticed myself transforming into a more compassionate care giver and my patients were so responsive to that. I noticed a genuine eagerness from them to learn more about yoga and their state of health and well-being and how they could maintain it long-term.”

In her free time, Jessica enjoys curling up with a good book and her dog Dudley. She is also an acro yogi and loves to get upside down as much as possible.
